Valerie Armstrong named new head volleyball coach

Colby Community College has announced the selection of Valerie Armstrong to head the Lady Trojan volleyball team.
Originally from Brule, Neb., Armstrong started her college volleyball career in 2003 at Eastern Wyoming College. She received Academic All-Conference Awards and in 2004 earned an Academic All-American Award.
Armstrong completed her volleyball career at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla., where she received Heartland Conference Academic Awards and was selected the 2007 OPSU Female Athlete of the Year. She graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness.
While working on her master’s degree in business administration from College of the Southwest in Hobbs, N.M., she served as assistant volleyball coach for the Mustangs.
“Valerie brings a lot of intensity, enthusiasm and a love for the game,” said athletic director Duane Arntt. “She has moved to Colby and will begin her duties immediately.”
